The Institute of Unmanned Systems Guidance and Control Technology mainly consists of faculty members and postgraduates from the majors of Aerospace Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, and Weapons Science and Technology. At present, there are 20 full-time faculty members including, but not limited to professors and associate professors, 1 National-level young talent, 2 provincial or ministerial young talents, 2 recipients of "San Qin Talents Allowance", 1 member of the professional committee of aerospace weapon system of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics, 1 member of the professional committee of detection and guidance technology of the Chinese Society of Astronautics, and 1 member of the youth working committee of the Chinese Society of Automation. There are more than 150 doctoral candidates and master degree candidates in the institute.
The Institute has long cooperated with major domestic military research institutes in the field of aerospace. Technical research covers detection, guidance, control and information processing of aircraft, satellites, etc. The Institute has participated in the demonstration, design, simulation, R&D and development of several types of seekers. In recent years, the Institute has focused on the frontier intersection of aerospace and several other disciplines, such as artificial intelligence, new energy and others, concentrating on the basic theory research and critical technology research in the direction of guidance control, imaging detection, machine learning, artificial intelligence, fault-tolerant control, game collaboration, energy management, neural computing, fault diagnosis, low altitude security, etc. The Institute has undertaken more than 50 national and provincial research projects, such as National Program on Key Basic Research Project(973 Program), National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), National Natural Science Foundation, National Program for Key Research and Development, National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Special Zone, General Armament Department Preliminary Research, Sea Armament Department Preliminary Research, Shaanxi Provincial Key Research and Development Program, Shaanxi Provincial Natural Science Basic Research Program, Aviation Science Foundation, Space Science and Technology Innovation Foundation, Space Support Foundation, etc. The teachers and students of the Institute have published more than 400 academic papers (3 highly cited in ESI and more than 30 in international top journals), received more than 50 national invention (national defense) patents, published more than 10 books, received many provincial and ministerial awards, and have been a high-level research group with faculty owning solid research foundation and strong innovation ability.
The teachers of the Institute have deeply participated in the scientific research work of several active and under-research weapons and equipment models, and are responsible for the demonstration, design, simulation, R&D and development of many types of seekers, and have undertaken more than 150 horizontal projects of national defense research institutes.
